How long have you been mixing? Since my mum went to Central Station Records in Darlinghurst and bought me 2 Technics 1200s when I was 16 years old for Xmas - all by herself! What a cool mum! You couldn’t ask for a better one. 11 years ago! Time flies.
First party you went to? FOD4 was my first big rave.
How did you get into oldskwl and what does it mean to you? This is a really hard question to answer. I have been going to big events since I was 16 years old. I was always into Happy Hardcore before that. Then in ’96 I started going to my first big raves. I really enjoyed all the parties during ’96 – ’97. I got to enjoy a lot of awesome parties and would never change a thing.
Since the start I had always had a copy of Jade – Liquid Anthems. This tape was my absolute favourite! I have the same copy ever since my mate made me a copy 11 years ago. Then I heard Shade come out with his ‘Anthems’ edition tapes and as a ‘bedroom banger’ it blew me away! Not only was he playing those tracks you will never forget but he was one of the first ever true turntablist’s for the techno generation!
I can’t really explain it. But since I was 16 I started collecting these vinyls. I knew they were special and something I really should hold onto and never let go. LOVE IT HARD!
Name the most recent additions to your record box? I don’t really buy vinyl that much anymore. Everything I have is what I collected when I was partying during the 90s and heard and liked. So I visited Central, One Stop, Reachn, BPM and got me a copy!
What are your 3 favourite record labels? ZYX, Italian Style, Additive, Rough mix, Tripoli Traks. Oh, did you only say 3?!!!
Describe your style and what we can expect to hear from you at Back to Unity. This year has been awesome and I have learnt a lot! But I’m really hyped for a slow Italian mix like nothing I have done before.
